Nolan has always been synonymous with quality, expertise and performances in the world of helmets for motorcycling use.

Knowing how to differentiate our products, interpreting the needs of those who use motorcycles for work, travel or pleasure, means being able to occupy a leader’s position in the world of two-wheels. And this is precisely what the Nolan Group does, through the constant search for forward-thinking and innovative solutions.

Initially considered only for safety purpose, today helmets are chosen based on graphics and looks, comfortable use, functions and performances. From a mere protective item, in recent years the helmet has become a faithful companion for motorcyclists on all their travels, and consequently it has to be able to meet their needs, which are increasingly complex and advanced. Bikers, either occasional ones or real aficionados, have expressed their need to communicate, even while travelling, in a way that ensures their safety and with high-level performances. Nolan has taken on this challenge.

The initial idea was to develop a communication system specifically for its helmets, completely integrated internally, without altering requirements in terms of looks, comfort and compliance with standards. We wanted to develop a product capable of building customer loyalty: The N-Com kits had to be transferrable from one helmet to another and modular, in other words capable of being matched up in order to obtain improved performances, without forcing users to replace products they have already purchased.

It was 2005 when the N-Com – Nolan Communication System was set up.

The goal was successfully pursued by the company which, starting in 2006, launched a range of modular communication kits on the market that could be installed on the Jet N42 model and on the N102 flip-up model. The concept proved to be a winner.

The positive feedback by both the general public and professionals immediately led to outstanding results. The year 2007 marked the expansion of the range of helmets pre-set for the N-Com system, and several cables were introduced for connection to multimedia devices (mobile phones, Mp3 players, satellite navigators, PMR and GMRS radios, motorcycle audio systems). Today there are more than ten Nolan and X-lite helmet models designed to fit the N-Com Kits, and just as many helmets compatible with the after-market systems of the MULTI line.

There are three product lines: the N-Com line, intended for Nolan helmets; the X-Series line, for X-lite helmets; the MULTI line, aimed at Nolan and Grex helmets not pre-set for the N-Com communication system. Each line has its peculiar features, but they all share one common strategy: Made in Italy – Made in Nolan.

This means that the communication systems are devised and designed directly within the company, in collaboration with those who have been making high-quality helmets for years. This means betting on internal efficiency, on the skills of qualified personnel with experience in constant search for ideas and components capable of improving the characteristics and performances of its own products. A strategy that since the beginning has placed N-Com systems at the top of the market.

The philosophy of the Nolan Group can also be found in the N-Com division: to offer a product with high standards capable of guaranteeing the user’s safety. All Nolan, X-Lite and Grex helmets pre-set for the N-Com systems are type-approved with the communication system installed, consequently they comply with regulation ECE/ONU 22-05.
